About PR179
History
Perylene maroon is part of the perylene family adopted by artists' paint makers in the later 20th century.
In mixes
A deep, transparent maroon that looks almost brown-black in masstone. Useful for rich darks and glazes.
Drying speed is typical for linseed oil; tubes ground in safflower or poppy oil, or with driers added, will differ. These are general notes on the pigment, not on any one brand.
