Hue or substitute.
Labeled as a hue: a substitute mixture for the named color. The name promises cerulean (a cobalt pigment).
Genuine cerulean is opaque, slightly granular and expensive. Hues made with phthalo blue and white cost far less and tint much more strongly, so use less.
Compared with Cerulean Blue (W&N Artisan, the same line):
- Price: this hue is series 1; Cerulean Blue from the same line is series 2.
Listed as PB36, a cobalt chromium pigment, though named a hue.
What's in the tube: 2 pigments
Bar widths are estimates: makers list pigments roughly in order of amount but don't publish proportions.
